Capricorn Lessons of Not Giving up

Venus has just completed her four months long journey through the sign of Capricorn. There was lots of slowness, heaviness, and depth involved. It was not a straightforward journey. She was making stops along the way - pausing, retracing, and reevaluating her steps, before changing her course once again and moving slowly ahead. Her lover, all-powerful Mars, joined her happily on her forward journey for a close embrace and then danced their way together through one more plunge into the underworld before finally exiting for Saturn’s airy home of Aquarius.

In Capricorn, Venus finds herself in the earthy home of Saturn and the exaltation of Mars. Saturn, the principle of necessity, responsibility for one’s actions, personal integrity, grounded  and careful efforts, hard work, and perseverance that allows us to proceed despite all the setbacks and limitations. Mars represents the impulse towards action, energy and passion to pursue one’s goals, courage to charge ahead, to fight against all odds.

 

Capricorn is aligned with my 5th house. Though this was not a single topic journey for me, the lessons I’d like to share with you, are concerning my creativity and insights I’ve gained through this long and heavy yet very regenerative process.

So here they are:

 

Slowness of action

You need to walk slowly, sometimes even slower than you think is possible. Consider carefully every step you take. This is not a straight path. Unexpected roadblocks will pop up along the way and they cause delays and block your progress. As a result, you might get frustrated and maybe even start questioning the purpose of your mission. Are you truly committed to your goals or will you give up when obstacles come in your way?

 

Your reality is different

Don't compare yourself to others. Your reality is unique and you can only do so much given your current circumstances. Be realistic about what you can manage, don’t overstretch yourself. 

 

Strong foundations

You need to get really good at basics first before you can proceed to the more advanced level. Don’t rush the process and take pleasure in watching your skills and abilities grow over a long period of time.

 

There is a long way to mastery

Adjust your expectations. Capricorn is aiming towards mastery. It is not an overnight thing. It takes many years and incredible effort to become a master in any given area. It takes commitment and lots of practice. Celebrate your progress.

Strategy is not a one-time decision.

Strategy is a carefully crafted, process-oriented effort and adjustments are necessary along the way.

 

Sacrifice is necessary

You cannot have everything at once. You need to decide what is your priority. Naturally, you will have to say no to some things, decline some offers that are not in alignment with your current goals. You are saying no to things to define your yes.

There is a right time for everything

Be patient. You know where you’re going and there is a long journey ahead of you. Your timeline might change. Things might take longer than you’ve anticipated. Trust that there is a good reason for that detour on your way and don’t forget to look back and learn what you’ve learned from this challenge.

Take breaks to replenish your energy and reflect on life

Though there is an urge to push forward endlessly, you need to stop and fill up your cup. You need to step away from your goal-oriented activities and enjoy the pleasures of life. It is necessary to see that this is not all there is to life. It is so easy to experience burnout and you are so much more than your goals and achievements.
