Kids Are Our Medicine

When I think about kids, I think about the Moon and Jupiter and the Moon's domicile of Cancer where Jupiter is exalted.
Babies are attached to their mothers, seeking unity and fearing  separation. The body is at the center of their being. Babies take pleasure in exploring their bodies. They want to be touched, held and rocked, they want to be nurtured and secured within their mother's universe. Their days are primarily occupied by repeating periods of sleeping, feeding and diaper changing.
They follow their instincts, they want to have their basic needs met and if they aren't, they will ask for it right away.

As they're getting older, they are learning how to control their primal, instinctual reactions, how to be social but still they have a strong lunar presence. They are soft creatures, full of water and emotions that are flowing through their little bodies like wild rivers.

Kids are deeply rooted in the present moment, in a kind of timeless reality. Their experience of time is of cyclic nature. Like the Moon they love repetition, circling back to familiar things and remembering past. They will never get tired of the same story being told over and over again.

They fully embrace the irrational part of reality, their world is enchanted. There is no separation, there are no harsh lines between visible and invisible. Kids are intuitive creatures. They have a felt sense of reality. They might not be able to rationally explain why but they know when something does not feel right.

Kids are seeking comfort and unity. The mother still holds a central role in their life but the circle of people they trust is growing as they’re getting older. Family is their first tribe, feeding into their need of belonging.

Even though their mental abilities are growing day by day, the body still plays a major role. Kids show us how to feel good in our bodies and how much comfort there is in our physical being. There is never enough hugs and kisses and a gentle kiss is the best cure in the world.

Kids teach us to trust. Their world is a good and kind place. They are aware of the evil but they know the good will always win. Happily ever after is the premise that can’t be shattered.

Their goodness comes in a true greater benefic fashion.
They are generous, they give their time and attention freely. There is no calculation in terms of what I get from this (unless they want a cookie, of course :-)). They're not expecting things in return, they accept you for who you truly are. They are like eager little puppies, just happy to see you, no adjustments needed.

Kids are our best cheerleaders. They love fully. And if you hurt them, they forget easily, they don’t hold a grudge. They're like the jolly old Jove. They want to spread the cheer and make the world a happy place.

People often question whether it is fair to bring new kids into this world and/or why people have babies even in dire circumstances.

Kids restore our faith. They show us how easy it is to believe. They represent our hope of the future, they are life growing rapidly right in front of our eyes. They are the fruit of our life, they ensure the continuity of our lineage.

They give meaning to our lives and our world. We are their whole world when they’re little. We are their safe harbor to come back to when they grow older and things get rocky.

Kids are the best bandaids for harsh reality of our everyday life. They soften our hard Saturnian crusts and pump us with the juiciness of life.
They are like a life-giving well that will never dry up.

They are our medicine.

Keep hope alive, keep dreaming.
