Spring That Never Comes

I love (Venus in) Pisces season. I haven’t always felt that way. Before I was familiar with astrological symbolism, this time of year seemed kind of weird and confusing. I had a kind of blah feeling about it.
It’s neither this nor that, the mutable nature of this time between winter and spring drove me crazy. I wanted to escape the vagueness of it all. I felt the pull, the expectation, the rising energy, the light that is coming but then came another gust of cold air or a sudden snow storm. All my dreams of springs have vanished and with it came disillusion and despair.t.
Pisces season. Winter is still here and spring is just around the corner. There is a lightness floating in the air, it shimmers and moves us to imaginative spaces where everything is possible. Yet, at the same time, we are painfully aware that Pisces season is the  “Spring that never comes”.
It is a period of transition and the boundaries are porous. Everything gets easily infiltered. Water does not put up any barrier. The silt might seep back through any time. Stuff that gets in is quickly dispersed by water currents. You might not even notice what is happening.

What shimmers might not be as good as it looks on the outside, Piscean temptations can deceive us and pull us into a downward spiral. The shiny fish swimming towards the light is always accompanied by her dark twin heading to the bottom of the ocean.

How do we navigate this space that carries so much hope and promise but at the same time can get us entangled with people and influences that can take us to some very dark places and distorted realities?

Pisces comes with a longing that can never be fulfilled. The nourishment needs to come from within and Pisces can bring the magic, the spaces that uplift us and keep us inspired and connected to higher realms.

Stay hydrated, keep your fishtail wet and don’t buy into hard cold reality thing as the only option. Learn how to inhabit the land without sacrificing your oceanic wisdom.
Keep your emotional cup filled, don’t expect anyone or anything can do this for you.
Have the hope as the inspiration that pulls you along not as the final destination.

Watch what you long for.
Listen where you hear the Sirens’ calling. No one can escape their deeply enchanting songs. Their sweet voices have always lured sailors who exchanged their dear life for a short moment of ecstasy.

We don’t have to sacrifice ourselves.
We don’t need to give in to temptation.

Sometimes we might have to “anoint the ears with sweet wax” like Odysseus' crew had to do to save their lives.
Piscean dream might be too much for us at this time, we might not be ready to explore the ocean (yet).

And maybe we can, like Odysseus, just watch while having ourselves bound to sturdy support, not acting on our impulses.  Get enchanted,
take delight in the moment,
enjoy the sensual pleasures
and for now, dream the wild dreams of spring…

Keep hope alive, keep dreaming.
