Love and Light Are Not Enough
Love and light are not enough. We need limits. We need to feel frustrated and challenged sometimes in order to evolve in the direction of „love and light“ philosophy. As I say, people don´t come for a reading when life is good, they come when it hurts. Just to hear „Yes, you are in a difficult space right now“ is comforting in challenging times. Astrology can do much more than that though.
We cannot be everything. Negative spaces are good. Spaces that aren´t accessible are creating boundaries for us, forcing us to narrow down our options. Think about it. The mantra of a modern, spiritually aware human being is „the whole world is open to you, you can do anything, you can be everything“. Everything is overwhelming. Where do you start? You might as well spend your life chasing after possibilities or going mad.
Grand concepts and visions are important. They drive us forward. We need to have something to believe in. They allow us to live and take action in our everyday life. They support us in achieving our goals. Seeing ourselves as beings of unlimited possibilities or beings without limits is detrimental. To us and to the world around us.
I admit, I am a skeptic in this sense. I hear many stories. Astrology allows me to listen to people talking about their lives, it´s what I love the most. And what I hear over and over again is „We are all „just“ humans“. We are not perfect and we have limits. Perfection is an abstract concept.
I love to show my clients that each of us is gifted in its own unique way. So often we are locked into our own little reality. We are blind to our gifts and assume that everyone is capable of the same things that we take for granted. They are our baseline. But not so for someone who does not have them, for them they are superpowers. When we think about being gifted, we imagine our gifts should have an almost supernatural quality that makes us somehow exceptional. But more often than not our gifts are rather mundane. They make us functional and efficient in certain activities or areas of our life. We don´t have to exert much effort while doing them.
I love to show my clients their sore spots. Places that hinder us. We cannot assume that when we are afraid of something, when we feel uncomfortable in a certain situation that it is something that is not meant for us. Often we are drawn to certain experiences where we doubt ourselves. Those are placements in our charts that call for our attention, for a chance to be further developed and so they keep poking us. Internally. And even if we keep pushing them away, they won´t stop. They will come into our lives as external events or as people asking us to step forward and give it a try.
Astrology shows us that there is so much more that hasn´t yet blossomed in our psyche, that hasn´t enriched our lives. By turning away from challenges, we are turning away opportunities. We won´t see what else might be there for us, we´ll just keep treading water.
Interaction with other people has always been a source of great stress and anxiety for me. I´ve always admired people that were relaxed around other people, that were able to strike up conversation with a stranger. For me, people skills are superpowers.
I realized that I can run away no more. I have to face my biggest fears. Addressing my sore spots is the only way to do what I love – astrology. Yes, it is possible to do astrology without people, hidden away in your own bubble, pondering about abstract concepts and charts of people you know. But I realize it´s not enough for me. I believe that people breathe life into astrology, their stories are what makes astrology alive. I am emotionally drained after every reading. Yet I know this is the way. I need to keep doing this over and over again.
Our lives become so much deeper and richer if we face our fears. And even though it might sound paradoxical, we might even become good at things we struggle with in the beginning.
The whole universe doesn´t conspire to make things happen for us. We need to exert effort, get uncomfortable and in return taste the sweetness of freedom when we start breaking free from our fears.
Keep hope alive, keep dreaming.
Petra
