Coastal Pastures

Saturn is often seen as obstacles, setbacks, delays we have to face, external limits we can´t get past but Saturn also points to limits within ourselves, the difficult and painful experiences and topics that we don´t want to deal with, that are sitting in our stomachs, unresolved. Like Saturn himself we all have our vulnerabilities that we swallowed at some point of our life out of fear that they are going to threaten us somehow.

With Saturn now in a mutable sign of Pisces, we find ourselves in a transitional space. What was the norm until now might not be acceptable anymore. There is a strong discontent with the present moment, the realization that there was enough of THIS already, that we can´t/don´t want to go any further like this even though we don´t know where to go next.

What we´ve built on the shores might be washed into the sea anytime, it is made from sand. There is no stable ground, nothing to hold on to. This feeling of dissatisfaction with the status quo takes us to a place of longing. Longing for a change, being willing to make a sacrifice and giving it a try, one more time, as we can´t ignore this sensitivity inside of us any longer. Maybe it´s better to try and fail than keep following the old path that took us away from life. But how do you get back? Back to something that made you feel vulnerable, that brought you disappointment?

Saturn in Pisces reminds me of the 5 of cups tarot card. It speaks to the area of our life where we´ve experienced loss and disappointment, where the cups have been spilled. Some are fully emptied, some still have some water in them but it is not enough to keep us in the old place. Saturn in Pisces brings us to the crossroads. We are turning our back on what was and we are looking for new hopeful horizons. Our current situation seems depleted, our resources exhausted.

We are longing for a more soulful, connective, imaginative environment but there is no clear path to follow. Pisces is a watery, feminine, mutable sign. This journey is about the process, not the end goal. We want our reality to be different but in order to get there, we need to change our inner landscape. The journey we´re setting out on is deeply introspective and experiential.

This journey is not about clarity. This is a soul-searching journey, there will not be much guidance. We might often feel lost, floating in the vast oceanic waters. There will be threads of hope here and there to follow but we will need to get used to a different mode of operation. We will need to trust, to follow the way of water. At times, we might feel trapped between the ocean and the land in the Piscean area of our charts, we might feel uncertainty coming from the unboundedness of these spaces.

Imagine the land along the edge of a large body of water. It is impossible to keep water at bay, to control it, it will always seep through. The water can sweep us anytime and we might feel insignificant like a tiny grain of sand lost in the vast ocean. This is the territory where we now find ourselves.

It is comforting to know that sweet Venus has our back both by being the exaltation ruler of Pisces and the domicile ruler of Taurus where Jupiter now presides. The Taurean area of our chart is where the bounty lies. It can provide us with stable, fertile ground, where we find blessings and inspiration. It can help us slow down and provide new pastures to graze, to nourish ourselves, it is where we receive support.

There is a beneficial symbiosis between Pisces and Taurean houses in our chart that is blessed by Venus. These areas can work beautifully together, supporting each other in the process of growth. Imagine the idea of COASTAL PASTURES, fertile horizons that back us up when we´re treading a fine line between the water and the land.

Watch Piscean and Taurean spaces in your chart:
- Pisces
(Saturn): crisis of faith, a place where we reached our limits, where we are feeling dissatisfaction. A place where our emotional cups have been spilled. An ongoing process of renewal – regeneration – resurrection.

- Taurus
(Jupiter): where is our stable ground, where the blessings and new opportunities come from, where we can nurture ourselves.
