Love Me if You Dare - Venus in Scorpio
Intense, creepy, obsessive, dramatic….can we look past what’s right in front of our face, can we go deeper with Venus this season? Goddess of love, beauty and art, a goddess that craves union and harmony. Why does Venus seem so controversial in the sign of Scorpio, why does she acts out the way she does?
In Scorpio, Venus is in a Mars-ruled environment. Imagine how it looks when you combine two completely opposite energies – Venusian and Martial. They clash. You can feel a constant stirring, constant tension. Balance and harmony are an impossible concept here.
Imagine Venus in Mars´s autumnal home. Venus dwells in an unknown, unfamiliar, awkward environment that is not supportive of her nature, to things she loves to do, to what nourishes her and makes her happy. She dwells in exile, far away from her home. The place she inhabits is dark. Sunlight rarely reaches this place - you can´t see what lies in the shadows.
The sign of Scorpio is the fixed watery home of Mars. Imagine the Scorpio archetype without any embellishments. Stagnant water. It forms when there is no current when water stops flowing. If we look past thriving places like swamps and marshes, stagnant water is considered a major environmental hazard. Stagnant water can be dangerous for drinking as it provides an easy incubator for bacteria and parasites. Stagnant water can become easily contaminated. Mold loves to grow in places where there is constant excessive moisture. What lies in stagnant water has a contagious quality. Stagnant water is a potential source of disease, of death.
Is it too intense? Is it too much for you? Can you imagine how it must feel to live in a place like this? How much energy must be used to survive here? How much it take to feel comfortable here?
How can you become less vulnerable to constant threats? How can you protect (your) life in the Martian environment? You need to protect yourself first. Putting on armor is a sensible thing to do. You can´t walk around the minefield with a flower bouquet. You need a weapon (just in case). And you must be really smart about it. You can´t carry a shotgun out in the open. You can´t see clearly what´s around you, you don´t know who your enemy is.
You need to be strategic about your actions and the element of surprise is your advantage. Your secret power is hidden, it is an integral part of you. You carry a poison in your stinger. The stinger itself is visible so they know they shouldn´t mess with you but unless they taste your poison, they have no idea how deadly it is, how powerful you really are. Scorpio is a place of concentrated inner power, power that is necessary to endure in a challenging environment.
Imagine Venus in Scorpio as a fierce and independent woman, like Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist of The Hunger Games. She has no choice but to fight. She must fight if she wants to survive. She must fight if she wants to protect the vulnerability of life. She has no other choice than to be merciless at times to fight the greater Evil.
Venus in Scorpio must learn how to survive in a hostile environment. This environment, to a great degree, determines the kinds of difficulties she encounters, it motivates her actions and choices. We are environmental beings and Venus is no exception. But despite being in a Mars environment, Venus is Venus. She is who she is, she has her own desires. She wants to bond, she loves fiercely and wants to be loved in the same capacity.
Venus in Scorpio is not afraid of the shadows, shadows are part of her habitat. Her desires are dark, deep, and fixed like the waters she dwells in. She can’t avoid the ugliness, the discomfort, the strive. She holds heavy overwhelming emotions within. Her instincts are sharp. She seems so badass, so controlled like "you can never get (to) her", yet she often drinks her own medicine. It´s like she willingly ignores all the warning signs.
It is all or nothing for Venus in Scorpio, she knows no moderation. Either she is in, she takes off her armor and goes totally unprotected, totally vulnerable or she is not interested. Like a traveler in old legends wandering near a marsh, she follows the flicker of a light in the distance assuming this is the only way, this is the true light to follow. As she moves further and further into the wetland, into the darkness, the light disappears, she finds herself lost among the reeds.
Instead of trying to get herself out of there, she stays in this dire situation. She rather holds onto the illusion she desires and sinks even deeper into it. She uses her venom against herself. The idea of letting go is so painful that she takes a bit more venom to ease the pain.
We have to trust the uneasiness we feel when we move through dark uncomfortable spaces. There is no other way to recognize what´s healthy unless we experience what´s toxic. We need to get entangled, get hurt and feel vulnerable. Love is not black or white, dark or light, ugly or pure....love is messy. We need to take time to distinguish what is just a glimmer in the wetland that will dissipate when we try to reach it and what´s genuine and worth the trouble.
Venus in Scorpio comes to us with a "love me if you dare" call. Venus in Scorpio wants to know if we have the guts to deal with all shades of ugly. Venus in Scorpio strips us naked and reveals what´s deep down in the core of your being.
Venus in Scorpio can also teach us that secrets can be innocent and darkness can be grounding and nourishing.
PS: There are no wrong feelings and there is no such thing as too intense < 3.
Keep hope alive, keep dreaming.
