Match Those Beats, DJ - Jupiter in Gemini

Everybody makes some noise, Jupiter is about to ingress Gemini. This transition is a part of the ever-unfolding story. It has no beginning, it has no end. We always need to look at where we’re coming from and where we’re moving to. Personally, I´ve been kind of dreading this zodiacal shift at first as I’ve been enjoying steady and slow support of great benefic. As I like things „different“, I wanted to put a fun, contemporary spin on Jupiter in Gemini character. DJ came to me right away. What can DJ teach us about Jupiter in the Gemini archetype?
When you look up the meaning of DJ, i.e. a disc jockey, it says that it‘s a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Sounds kind of unimpressive, to say the least. In fact, the word "disc jockey" first referred to radio personalities who introduced phonograph or gramophone records on the air which does not sound like too demanding of a job/respectful role either. It perfectly illustrates how Jupiter in its detriment might be often viewed or felt by natives with this placement. All that people often see is someone who plays some reproduced music while entertaining the crowd and having fun. Plus they have all this equipment that does the work for them. 

If you know nothing about DJing, you have no idea about all the hard work and breadth of knowledge that is necessary to become a good DJ. Every DJ must start with putting together a music library containing a great collection of different tracks and continuously work on its organization. DJ must develop his own music style so that his work is recognized.

DJ needs to have a solid understanding of music composition that allows them to mix songs seamlessly and at exactly the right points. DJ must master fundamental techniques like harmonic mixing techniques, transitions, looping, etc. 

And this is just the technical part of the job. Then there is the whole standing in front of the audience as a sort of musical authority whose work is being judged by everyone in the room as the music must be constantly attuned to the ever-changing vibe of the crowd.

All of this takes a LOT of practice and Jupiter in Gemini is a great match for this demanding task.

Like Mercury, ruler of the Gemini, DJ is constantly split between paying attention to the craft and monitoring the environment, interacting with the current flow of energy and continuously adjusting the music. DJ shifts his attention back and forth between playing the tracks and interacting with the crowd. At the same time, he is continuously putting on headphones to pre-listen to music and adjust upcoming tracks to mix with currently playing music. 

It all looks so effortless like he´s wired into the system, synced with the environment that is in a state of constant flux. Have you ever seen DJ at work, how expressive his face is, how much he´s using his hands (associated with Gemini)? It feels like the DJ is constantly flowing from one world to another, illustrating the current energetic wave and carrying his audience with him.

The zodiacal signs of Jupiter and Mercury stand in opposition to each other and so do their significations but it doesn´t mean they can´t work together.
Jupiter represents unity and coherence that is necessary to establish order while Mercury symbolizes duality and changeability that leads to chaos. DJ must hold the tension between both of these positions. Like Jupiter, he needs to have a structure in place to pull things together into a coherent whole that sounds harmonically. Like Mercury, a DJ can play at least two sources of recorded music simultaneously which enables him to blend tracks together to create transitions and develop unique mixes of songs. DJ can also match the tempos of different records so their rhythms can be played together at the same time without clashing.
