Edge Walker - Aquarius

Image
We all have been, at one point, uncivilized, untamed, undifferentiated from our environment, unaware of ourselves and our individual identity. Think of the primal state of our being. A newborn baby, coming to the world, seemingly as “tabula rasa”, in its pure state, free from societal norms and expectations, just acting in accordance with its basic needs. A little prelude to today’s musing about the sign of Aquarius, archetype, that will be with us for quite some time as Pluto has recently embarked on a 20-year-long journey.  Aquarius season represents the time of winter when light is increasing in 24 hours day but darkness is still holding its power.  Aquarius is an air sign, fixed in nature. It is Saturn’s diurnal home. As such, Aquarius often represents the polarization of ideas, thoughts and attitudes. It represents mental divergence away from the center towards ideological extremes. Its ruler Saturn is also located furthest from the center of our solar syste...

Stillness of Winter - Capricorn

Image
Season of winter. Saturn’s earthly kingdom of Capricorn. Walking through the frozen landscape, we can clearly see the material shape and form of things around us. Everything is stripped to bare bones. There are no embellishments. Even the color palette is limited to different shades of whites, greys and browns. Yet when we look at a snow-covered landscape with the sun coming through there is this almost ethereal kind of beauty. Imagine walking through heavy snow. The air is crisp, it takes a lot of effort to move forward, to breathe. It feels like someone put some extra-weight bags on your body. You are exhausted.   But then you pause, take a slow, deep breath, calm down and look around. You notice the stillness of nature. You notice the world, transformed by the winter, resting. Moving through the wintery landscape can be arduous labor but if you allow it, it can feel like a contemplative walk through a sacred temple. Saturn in its earthy, feminine expression of Capricorn e...

Love Me if You Dare - Venus in Scorpio

Image
Intense, creepy, obsessive, dramatic….can we look past what’s right in front of our face, can we go deeper with Venus this season? Goddess of love, beauty and art, a goddess that craves union and harmony. Why does Venus seem so controversial in the sign of Scorpio, why does she acts out the way she does? In Scorpio, Venus is in a Mars-ruled environment. Imagine how it looks when you combine two completely opposite energies – Venusian and Martial. They clash. You can feel a constant stirring, constant tension.  Balance and harmony are an impossible concept here. Imagine Venus in Mars´s autumnal home. Venus dwells in an unknown, unfamiliar, awkward environment that is not supportive of her nature, to things she loves to do, to what nourishes her and makes her happy. She dwells in exile, far away from her home. The place she inhabits is dark. Sunlight rarely reaches this place - you can´t see what lies in the shadows. The sign of Scorpio is the fixed watery home of Mars. Imagin...

Secret Sisterhood - Virgo&Scorpio

Image
When we look at signs of Virgo and Scorpio through a superficial lens of pop astrology, we might label Virgo as the most predictable, boring sign and Scorpio as the most intense and often the coolest one. When we look deeper though, we can quickly see how much these seemingly complete opposites have in common. They are both feminine yin signs however they both represent a challenging placement when it comes to traditional feminine topics like love, relationships, pleasure and nurturing.  Virgo and Scorpio are placements where Venus and Moon, the planets that represent these topics, have their fall. Venus also struggles in Scorpio and a great benefic, Jupiter, which is often linked to the proliferation of life and fertility, is in its detriment in Virgo. Venus, Moon and Jupiter in general symbolize conditions that are safe and supportive for life.  Virgo and Scorpio are fall sisters. They share a mysterious bond. They inhabit the time of the solar year when dark feminine...

Life as an Art Form - Libra (Venus, Saturn)

Image
For many people, including myself, the word Art might sound a bit distant and even intimidating like something really sophisticated that is only meant for a selected few. I feel there is this distinction between “real” art and “art-like activities” that fall into the category of “arts and crafts”. It almost feels like a heresy to think that anybody could be making a (real) Art, be a (real) Artist. But as I’m growing older, my understanding of this word is changing.  I believe the Art is for the people. I believe Art is available to all of us as Art is about creation, about the expression of oneself. We are the most beautiful and sophisticated art projects of the universe, each of us unique in its expression. As we’re growing up and gain experiences we learn that the world and people around us often appreciate only certain aspects of ourselves and so we shut the unwanted down. We want to feel loved and so we learn to show our acceptable side. But our aches, pains and frustrat...

Virgo - Last Days of Summer

Image
Imagine a soft cool color palette - cool blue, sage green, lavender, dusty pink, soft yellow, ash brown… Imagine a cool misty morning in the garden - there's something magical about it. The scene looks fuzzy and unrefined like it was painted in the impressionist style.  Imagine a perfect sunny day in September. The sun is warm and soothing, it lacks its intensity.    Virgo season comes at the time when slow summer days are giving way to a busy hectic fall energy of schedules, spreadsheets, deadlines and responsibilities - the melancholy of the last days of summer, the excitement of the 1st school day, this is the Virgo season. The vitality of the sun is declining. Virgo marks the division between the seasons – summer and fall but it also signifies the onset of the dark part of the year when days are getting shorter and we´re slowly drawing into the comfort of our homes, turning our attention inwards. Change of seasons. The uncertainty of what’s to come. The ending of...

Body Wisdom - Jupiter in Taurus

Image
We are environmental creatures. Our soul inhabits a physical body, our body inhabits a physical world. Every day we're walking planet Earth moving through an environment that is influencing us at all times though we are not often aware of these influences. Our material reality and flow of events within this reality is represented by the Moon. The same goes for our body and fluctuations of energy and emotions within. We are creatures of comfort. We come to this world from a safe and secure environment of our mother’s body. It feels good to be taken care of. We want to be nourished and nurtured. We feel content and happy when these basic needs are satisfied. We need to be intimately connected to other beings. We want to be loved and held.  Moon and Venus both stand for what makes us happy and content in our everyday existence. They are both linked to our material existence through the sign of Taurus as domicile and exaltation rulers. A great benefic Jupiter is now transiting the sign...
